Sergio is out of this world

ONCE again Sergio Aguero has been proving exactly why I think he’s one of the best strikers on the planet.

I gather Graeme Souness has been saying Sergio is better than Luis Suarez and that Barcelona bought the wrong man in the summer.

I’m not sure about that, but I do know that Sergio is deadly when he’s in this kind of form.

He was fantastic against Bayern Munich in turning that tie right around at the end, while at Southampton he was just as threatening. In a lot of ways he reminds me of Carlos Tevez — another player we’re lucky to have seen in a City shirt.

Every shot Sergio takes can be explosive. He’s got that ability and that physique to twist and turn, get a shot away in the blink of an eye, and generally cause opposition defenders no end of problems.

He’s like lightning and his feet are quick - it’s no wonder gets so many shots away.

He’s got that uncanny ability to take that extra touch that can take the ball out of an opponent’s reach, and that’s why he makes it look so easy sometimes to get in those crucial scoring positions.

And he should have had a penalty at Southampton. Talk about blatant — God only knows how he ended up getting booked for diving in the first half on Sunday.

Maybe City have turned that important corner now. Chelsea are six points clear at the top, but that can easily be clawed back over the next few games.

A tough schedule awaits, however, starting tonight at Sunderland.

City will be favourites going into the game, but they have been our bogey side in recent seasons, particularly away.
