Stick with tried and tested formation, Lee

FANS HAVE THEIR SAY

BECAUSE I have been supporting Latics for 50 years does not mean I know everything about football, but I am able to put in perspective exactly where we are, unlike some people who, at the first sight of a bad performance, have a go.

We are in the third division, we have players who are in the third division because they are inconsistent. Saturday’s result (4-0) was coming.

We are punching above our weight as it is, and Simon Corney (chairman) has performed miracles to keep us at this level so far.

Lee Johnson (manager) is a breath of fresh air for me and some of the football this season has been an absolute pleasure to watch.

We didn’t play this fast, attacking style under Paul Dickov, we had Dean Furman and James Wesolowski, who passed the ball sideways, while the full-backs never got over the half-way line.

We have lots of saleable assets. Enjoy the ride Latics fans, because we haven’t had it so good for a long time.

Whether Mr Corney timed his views (last Tuesday’s Chronicle) correctly is open to debate, but the players play the game not him and they should get on with what they get paid for.

Keep dreaming. Come on Lee, we are behind you.

BLUE FOREVER

STOP messing around with formations. Stop blaming certain players in public. Stop Corney from bleating negative comments in the press. Stop demotivating the fans.

SPIKE

WE played three at the back for first time since start of season and got smashed for first time since start of season.

Absent players shouldn’t change the formation of the team. You received a lesson off your old man, LJ, but you’ll have to take this one instead of publicly blaming players. I’m confident you’ll get it right. Seven points from the next nine, please.

JOE DERZ

TWO weeks ago I said that Liam Kelly was the linchpin of the side and his importance to the club was paramount.

This was palpably obvious after what was a disastrous performance against a workmanlike Yeovil team.

I also said that Lee Johnson has to look at his decision to play three centre-backs as that was a massive mistake.

The usually-excellent Genseric Kusunga had a day to forget, as did others in the team, but the impending loss of Liam Kelly is a worry.

CABOROIG

SAME as last year, LJ, has started tinkering again. I propose going back to the starting line-up/formation that saw us winning games. It’s not rocket science. One win in five in League One games. MK Dons next up. Ouch!

LATIC WAJ

LOOKS like football still has a dark underbelly. LJ gets Oldham into the top six, loses one game and the knives are out. The beautiful game — yeah, right!

OLD MANCUNIAN

I LOVED Matt Chambers’ honest assessment of the players’ performances in yesterday’s Chronicle — “not good enough” for all of them. Spot on!

That display was awful and embarrassing. The players need a positive result at MK Dons on Saturday as a way of saying sorry to the fans.

I can’t believe only two weeks ago we hammered Rochdale away. What a difference 14 days make!
