MARK Moisley will begin work as Athletic’s new commercial director next month, charged with engaging both supporters and businesses.

The 48-year-old heads to SportsDirect.com Park from England Hockey, where he held the role of sales and marketing manager.

Moisley starts work at the club on Monday, January 19, leading the commercial team on a quest to increase the fan base and maximise matchday and commercial revenues.

“We were impressed with Mark’s professionalism and his track record,” said Athletic chairman Simon Corney of the appointment.

“He joins us with a remit to build on the excellent work of our commercial staff over the last two years and to take the club to the next level, both in terms of building the fan base and ensuring that we maximise the potential of the new North Stand.”

Moisley spent seven years in various roles at Premier League club Sunderland and moved on to become corporate box sales director for IMG at Wembley Stadium in 2009.

He then briefly became a consultant for the perform media group before moving on to become head of sponsorship at Sport First in 2010.

“I am delighted to be joining Oldham Athletic at an exciting period for the club both on and off the pitch and am very much looking forward to a busy period with the development of the new North Stand and marketing the club to a wider audience,” Moisley said.

“It is vital that we work closely with fans and the business community to ensure we can make the most of the opportunities this will provide and I cannot wait to get started.”
