CHAIRMAN Simon Corney was behind the initiative to slash prices to £5 for the home game against Colchester — and further deals for fans could be in the offing.
Commercial director Mark Moisley said Corney’s plan is to pack SportsDirect.com Park for the Us clash on Saturday.
Supporters can pay £5 at the turnstiles either in the Zen Office Chaddy End or the Rochdale Road stand.
“It was the chairman’s idea,” Moisley said. “He wanted to do something for the supporters and I think it is a great gesture. The idea was to give something back for the excellent support the team has had this season.
“We have had really good feedback from it, including 20,000 hits on Facebook,” Moisley added.
“We have spoken to season ticket holders and the overwhelming majority want to see the ground full.
“It isn’t something we will be doing every week. But we have been looking at one or two different initiatives and hopefully we will be able to do one or two more things before the end of the season.”
