First goal in Barca is vital

IT goes without saying that every Manchester City player will need to step up to the plate tomorrow night if they are to defeat Barcelona in the Nou Camp.

Already 2-1 down following defeat at the Etihad, the odds are rightly stacked against the local side.

But as they have proved time and time again, there are the players in the squad capable of turning the situation around.

There have been a couple of confidence blows lately, and Saturday’s result at Burnley was a really

disappointing one. But if they can play at a good tempo from the start and maybe score first, the Champions League tie will be wide open again. It’s about having the right attitude, shifting the ball around well, and hopefully getting a goal or two.

I’m sure Chelsea supporters will have been hugely disappointed at the way in which their team dropped out of the competition last week.

Fair play to PSG, they secured their progress the hard way, having to play almost all the game with just 10 men.

But they stuck to their task brilliantly and will now be fancied by many to go all the way to the final.

Whatever happens tomorrow at the Nou Camp, our fans will enjoy a terrific night. I’ve been all over the world during my time with City, but Barcelona was one of the best stadiums I’ve experienced.

I’m still busy with my City website features, and I’ve booked a cracker for March 30, when I’ll be down at the famous Silverstone racing circuit to take part in a training day with one of the new Formula One teams.

It’s all part of my training schedule ahead of the forthcoming ‘Chappy’s Taxis’ series when I’ll be picking up a different City player each week and driving him to training at the new

complex. It should make good viewing.
