SPORTS BETTING:
FOR the first time in an Ashes series they have largely bossed, England will tomorrow start favourites to win a Test match.
Boasting a series-clinching 3-1 lead, Alastair Cook’s men go into the final Test at the Oval as 11-8 shots to complete an emphatic beating of their hapless rivals.
Draws are a rarity in Tests these days, so the 16-5 for that is readily dismissed.
And though Australia are tempting at 13-8 given a pitch which ought to suit their quick bowlers, such is the poor morale in the tourists’ camp that a bet cannot be recommended. Whatever the outcome of this Test, England will be lifting the Ashes urn at its completion – and deservedly so.
