City awash with forward jewels

SERGIO Aguero must be up alongside the best strikers on the planet after his five-goal demolition of Newcastle at the weekend.

He’s phenomenal in that kind of form; City are lucky to have a player of such quality. It’s incredible how Aguero just seems to be capable of gaining that half a yard on his opponents despite being in a tight situation. His turn of pace can be devastating at times, and his finishing first class.

He’s explosive and his close control is brilliant too. He’s just total class.

I guess he would be run pretty close by the Polish striker Robert Lewandowski at Bayern Munich at present. He’s banging goals in for fun in Germany, and also scored five in a quickfire spell the other week.

When you look at City’s front line, you shudder to think how much the likes of Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva would be worth in the current market. It’s mind-blowing, really, but when you think how much top-class players are changing hands for at the moment, City are sitting on some prized assets.

It was a terrific result for City against Newcastle. They couldn’t live with Manuel Pellegrini’s men in the second half. It’s strange, because City played almost as well against West Ham the other week, but lost that game.

But the Champions League is the competition everyone wants to crack, and the result at Monchengladbach was a great one. Again, I felt City deserved to win and the result sets it up nicely for the two games against Seville.

It’s been quiet in and around the club this week now the players have jetted off on international duty.

City have a big squad of course, but I think there’s only around four players around for training this week!
