Kompany delighted to be back

MANCHESTER City’s influential skipper Vincent Kompany is firing on all cylinders again after finally getting over his recent injuries.
The Belgian ace returned to the Blues’ Barclays Premier League starting line-up last Sunday, and though the title-chasing clash at home against Tottenham ended in a 2-1 defeat, Kompany was clearly relieved to be back in the fray.
Plenty of hard work during his recovery from hamstring trouble appears to have paid off, and should City boss Manuel Pellegrini select Kompany for this Sunday’s FA Cup fifth-round clash away at Chelsea, he will find a player reinvigorated.
Kompany revealed after the Tottenham match that he had been “blowing a bit”, but added: “I’ve worked extremely hard. There’s always that part that people don’t see, the things you do behind the scenes.
“I’ve been working really hard and I feel as good as I’ve ever been. I came through the Tottenham game and apart from feeling tired in the last five minutes. I felt like an 18 year old on the pitch again.”
City could well be glad of a switch in focus to the cup competition after back to back defeats against Leicester and Tottenham have seen the Blues’ title challenge falter.
