All set for big night at Bernabeu

SO, Manchester City’s Champions League semi-final clash with Real Madrid is perfectly poised ahead of tonight’s second leg in the Bernabeu.

The goalless draw at the Etihad really wasn’t a bad result. It was a lot, lot better than a 1-1.

AWAY GOAL

If City can get that first away goal tonight then things really are opened up.

It’s going to be a special occasion for the players and of course all the City fans that travel over to Spain.

I have been to the Bernabeu a couple of times and it’s a spectacular stadium.

It’s a little strange, too, as it’s just in the middle of a main road through the city.

I remember it was a huge stadium inside and when I was kit manager with City it took ages to lug all the gear down the various alleys and corridors to the changing room.

Hopefully by this time next week all the City fans can be looking forward to a Champions League final, but we’ll see with that one for now.

I was delighted to see Leicester finally get over the line on Monday night.

It’s still amazing that a team who were 5,000-1 outsiders have gone and won the Premier League.

It’s been a staggering story, but when a team has got the belief, the work rate and the resilience, almost anything can happen.

I notice the Foxes’ captain Wes Morgan said that it was the fantastic team spirit that had pulled them through.

They’ve had a bit of luck in terms of staying injury-free and suspension-free for the most part, but overall, individually and collectively, Leicester have been the best team and are worthy champions.
