Roo vow to carry on for England

WAYNE Rooney will continue playing for England for two more years, whether he is captain or not.

New England boss Sam Allardyce has remained tight-lipped over the Manchester United player's future as Three Lions captain since his appointment.

Allardyce has said he will reveal his decision when the squad meet up for their World Cup qualifier against Slovakia in September.

However, Rooney (pictured) has no intention of considering his international future for another two years, even if Allardyce hands the armband to someone else.

He told the Daily Mail: "I'll carry on until the World Cup in 2018 and then I might have a decision to make.

"But for the next two years, captain or not captain, I'll turn up and be available to play if I am wanted."

DECISION

Rooney continued: "I've spoken to him.

"Not at length about how we're going to play or my role, but he seems very excited about the job and he'll have his own way of doing it.

"I don't think it would be fair to expect him to make a decision on the captaincy now.

"So I'll wait and see what he thinks.

"He'll want to see the group, work with us all for a period of time and then make his decision."

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger believes Paul Pogba's proposed £100 million move to United represents the "complete madness" of the modern transfer market.

France midfielder Pogba is reportedly set to join United for a nine-figure sum and Arsenal manager Wenger, who is currently in Los Angeles with the Gunners, suggested he would not pay over the odds for any player.

Quoted in Tuttosport, he said: "It's complete madness when measured against real life, but we live in a world in which everything that happens is geared towards moving money around.

"It's complete madness - but it seems that if you can afford to do it, you can justify it."
