MANCHESTER City were awesome in the 4-0 win against Bournemouth.

That's eight straight wins so far this season now, and Pep Guardiola appears to be having an incredible effect.

It was a bit of a tricky start to the season for some players, but now the new manager appears to have instilled confidence in all of the them.

As a counter to that, though, he won't allow any slacking or any lapses of concentration.

Guardiola's man-management skills really are second to none. He's cool, calm and collected and that looks to be rubbing off on the players now.

Guardiola is different to so many managers I've come across before.

He's innovative, and he's obviously studied the game intensely.

It looks like he's taken his successes while a player into management, and those kind of experiences clearly get through to the players he's now got under his charge at City.

INSTRUMENTAL

I think Johann Cruyff was a major influence on Guardiola and he was an instrumental figure in the way he has developed as a manager.

Don't forget Cruyff went to Barcelona as manager in the late 1980s and just changed everything - the whole set-up.

He introduced Guardiola as a player and the pair of them helped guide Barca to massive success, and the current City manager obviously learned so much from those days.

Look at the way he's given confidence to players like Raheem Sterling and Alexandr Kolarov and how those two in particular have responded. It's phenomenal. Hopefully the momentum can continue into the back-to-back games at Swansea this week.

I anticipate seeing a few changes for the EFL Cup tie tomorrow down there.

Fans might get a chance to see one or two youngsters in action before the Premier League kicks back in on Saturday.
