TWO political heavyweights were expected in Oldham today in an eleventh-hour bid to secure vital votes for their respective party in tomorrow’s by-election.
Labour’s election co-ordinator Andy Burnham, along with other prominent MPs, was due to join Labour candidate Debbie Abrahams on the campaign trail with only hours to go before the polls open.
And for the Lib-Dems, Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander was expected to join his party’s candidate Elwyn Watkins, on a visit to Mount Pleasant Industrial Estate, Oldham, for a tour of Patterson and Rothwell, the plastic moulding and mould toolmakers.

MarkH its just the same old tat with "tories cant win here" on and just the smuggness of beating woolas.
at least the lib dems have provided one good thing.
no one had been cold this winter with all the paper pushed through the letter boxes.
Could say the same about the Labour candidate. Not seen ANY of them out knocking on doors here, but 2 leaflets of theirs in one hour is annoying not informative. Binned with the rest
Seems to be all UKIP and Lib Dem posters round our way. Same on many pubs too.
There wouldn't be much point having Labour knocking on the door. Their sole and mind numbingly repetitive message is "send a message to the coallition in this election". This is actually a hard earned chance to elect your representitive in parliament, your chance to choose someone who will take on your case, fight your corner etc. It's far more important than using it to 'send a message' to someone. It's not just a game.
I got something shoved through my letterbox between midnight and 7am THIS MORNING!
Can't wait for this whole circus to wrap up and move on. At least I know who I wont be voting for.
The tories are the only choice, Labour drove the country in to the ground and we are being fleece again, Labours financial dealing has left the country broke and we are payign the price! to return to that state would just prove that our democracy cant work as long as the public have no understanding of politics! but then again we fight two wars against facists and Oldham now has a big support for this, i say they should be done for treason!
Ive got a bin full of the rubbish posted through my door.
All out for themselves sick and tired of broken promises
Have Your Say

Elwyn, try knocking on a few doors instead of posting the same tired old rubbish through the letterbox.
