A SHAW charity shop has hit out at the thieves who broke in and made off with a pair of gold earrings worth £30.

The Children's Society was shocked on Sunday morning to discover that its shop on Market Street had been broken into, with the thieves smashing the front door to gain access.

Shop manager Carol Forshaw said: "It's really sad to think anyone would break into a charity shop.

"Our stock is kindly donated by local people to help The Children's Society support vulnerable children and tackle serious issues like teenage neglect and child poverty.

Special

"It's disappointing for myself, our volunteers and the community, but we made sure we were back open as usual on Monday and we won't let it affect all our hard work to make the shop look really special in the run-up to Christmas."

The shop is open from 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday and sells a variety of stock.

Donations are always welcome and there is a free car park at the rear of the shop.

Volunteers are always needed - just pop into the shop or call Carol on 01706-299 191.
