Dog wash aids appeal

FOUR-LEGGED friends in Shaw were treated to an hour's pamper session in aid of the Manchester Victims Appeal.

Waggy Spa and Waggy Warehouse, in Linney Lane, opened their doors to provide dog washes for the cause.

The firms raised more than £400 after inviting Oldhamers and their beloved pooches to attend the dog daycare centre on Sunday.

Co-owner Heather Screawn said via Facebook: "Huge thanks to everyone who donated, bought raffle tickets, and brought your dogs in for our charity dog wash in aid of the Manchester Victims Appeal.

"We had 22 dogs in across the day for baths and raised a total of £416.50!!! THANK YOU so much!

"The winners of our raffle were Josh the Staffy/American bulldog cross for the free bath and Harvey the Patterdale won the free full groom."

The dogs were given treats and playtime at the centre, and each went away with a specially-made bee bow to wear on their collars as a finishing touch.

Competition winners will also be contacted directly to notify them they have won a free grooming service for their dogs, valid for 30 days from issue.
