STEPPING down from her post as head teacher, Sarah Calvert
THE head of one of Oldham’s top secondary schools is stepping down.
Sarah Calvert, who has been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, will leave Crompton House school on Monday. She has been absent from the Shaw Church of England secondary since October as she battles the debilitating condition.
Mrs Calvert joined Crompton House in 2011 and had previously led Fairfax Business and Enterprise College in the West Midlands, for five years. Crompton House staff were informed yesterday and an e-mail was also sent to parents by chairman of governors Gordon Main.
It said: “Mrs Calvert has been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, a very debilitating illness, and one for which the period of recovery can be very long.
“In light of this, Mrs Calvert, in agreement with the governors, has decided to step down from her position as head teacher with effect from March 31.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Calvert for all the work she has done in building the foundations to move the school forward in these times of the ever changing educational landscape.
“I am sure you will join me in wishing Mrs Calvert well for the future and keep her in our prayers.”
