POLICE are warning residents to be on their guard after a man was seen acting suspiciously on High Street, Shaw, last Saturday afternoon asking for change for public transport, claiming that his car had broken down.

He was described as smartly dressed and in his 40s.

JAMIE'S Something Special fund has been boosted by £2,390 from last month’s Concert for Jamie.

And of that total, 20 per cent is being donated to the fund supporting Tehyah Solan-Clarke a young Shaw girl who suffered brain damage following a stroke. The group have so far raise over £30,000 for the fund.


Milnrow Road will be closed all day Sunday at its junction with Crompton Way to take out the existing traffic island and construct a new one. A small diversion will be in place along Rochdale Road.


CROMPTON House School’s Welcome to the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association Evening is on Tuesday October 14 at 7.30pm.


A fundraiser to raise money for Manchester Children’s Hospital will be held at Crompton Cricket Club on Saturday, from 2pm till late. There will be arts and crafts, a raffle, hot food and an all-day DJ.


SHAW and Crompton district executive and community forum will be held at Shaw Lifelong Learning Centre, High Street, on Tuesday, September 30 from 7.30pm.


SHAW Youth Centre, in Chapel Street, is offering pool, games and topical workshops on Mondays from 6.30 until 9pm, costing 30p.
