Axeman arrest

A MAN was seen wielding an axe on High Street, Shaw, at around 2pm on Saturday.
The man was arrested by police after a short chase


A VAN driver had his vehicle dented by a moped rider who kicked it in Shaw last Wednesday. The incident took place on Milnrow Road at 2.30pm. The moped’s registration is unknown but the rider fled in the direction of Shaw centre. Anyone who saw the incident should call police on 101.


ROADWORKS on Milnrow Road and Crompton Way, due to be finished last weekend, will now be completed tomorrow after an unforeseen delay.


SHAW and Crompton district executive and community forum will be held at Shaw Lifelong Learning Centre, High Street, on Tuesday, September 30 from 7.30pm.



A COFFEE morning for Macmillan will be held at the Royal British Legion, Shaw from 9 to 11.15am on Saturday. There will be a tombola and stalls.



CROMPTON House are appealing to visitors to be considerate when coming to the school so as not to restrict access for local residents. The school is closed to pupils on Friday, October 10 for a staff inset day.



A FAMILY charity gala for the Christie young oncology unit will be held at Heyside Cricket Club on Sunday, October 5. Music, stalls, food, drink and games will all feature. Tickets are priced at £5 and are available from the club. Call 01706-847 676 for more information.
