AN Oldham netball mascot double act has been watched well over 7,000 times online.
Under the dance costumes are Tom Nokes from Royton, and Anna Kirkpatrick from Shaw. Tom, a trainee teacher and Anna, who owns Anna’s Dance School in Shaw, took centre stage when Manchester Thunder clashed with Celtic Dragons at the Manchester Thunderdome.
He said: “I was asked by someone at Manchester Thunder if I’d be a mascot and since I also help out at Anna’s dance cchool sometimes I persuaded her to join me.”
With Tom as the Thunder Bear mascot and Anna as Netball in the Community’s “Kitty Katch” they headed out to the centre of the court at half-time to entertain the crowd. No-one knew they had rehearsed a dance routine to Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” - and the pair captivated the audience.
“It was just great fun,” said Tom. “We never expected it to go quite as well as it did.”
The routine was filmed and uploaded to various different social media platforms where it has been viewed well over 7,000 times.
Tom added: “I got home from the match and saw that the video had been uploaded and that it had already been viewed thousands of times. The pair are now preparing a new routine
