Eleven days, six bikes... one cause

Motorbike-mad mates are planning to coast their way round Britain to raise money for cancer research.

Former Shaw resident Stephanie Ratcliffe is leading the pack of brave bikers, who have been inspired to conquer the 4,000-mile coastal challenge by personal tragedies.

Stephanie (41) lost her dad Brian Green, also from Shaw, to lung cancer. She will hit the road with her 18-year-old son Marc and four friends to raise £15,000 for Cancer Research. Another two friends will join them in a support vehicle

Each rider will spend up to 10 hours a day travelling to clock up the necessary 350-400 miles from August 20.

Stephanie, who now lives near Wigan, says they have plotted a route that takes them through 128 towns, camping along the way to keep costs down.

They will be joined by a film-director friend keen to film their exploits, which will start and end at popular motorbike spot Southport Carousel.
