A STAR footballer and medieval king graced the ground of Crompton Moor - when filming took place for the video game 'Clash of Kings'.

The video - which was released as part of a marketing push for the mobile phone application in May - saw Bastian Schweinsteiger swap his Manchester United kit for armour as he took the leading role in the production.

The clip sees Schweinsteiger emerge from his tent as a king before leading his army to battle, sending Crompton Moor Quarry back into the Middle Ages as a result.

International production company Iconoclast appointed 422 Shoots - a North West based service production company - to facilitate and manage the two-day shoot which saw over 100 historical re-enactors take part.

Gemma Ackerley, client services director at 422, said: "As we are a Manchester-based company we are very proud to be bringing such high profile productions to the region.

"We were delighted to be able to facilitate and manage this shoot for Clash of Kings, and you can see just how much hard work has gone into delivering such a complex shoot.

"422 has been building its credentials in the gaming and sports industries and this production is a showcase of our work.

"It's really exciting that international production companies are choosing Manchester as a location to film."

The video has already been shared to more than 3.5 million users across the Clash of King's social media pages and also went on to air on German television.
