OLDHAM's newest primary school was officially opened by MP Jim McMahon.

The Oldham West and Royton representative unveiled a ceremonial plaque at the £7.5 million Northmoor Academy, Rochdale Road.

The building, on the site of the former Grange secondary school, was built from 96 modular units transported from Ireland.

Pupils started in September and it is run by Harmony Trust which sponsors Alt, Greenhill and Westwood primaries.

Facilities include a science room, outdoor theatre and a synthetic pitch.
