THREE Oldham charities are celebrating the success of after a week-long joint fundraising campaign.

Mahdlo Youth Zone, Action Oldham Fund and Dr Kershaw's Hospice joined forces for last year's 123 Give campaign, a week dedicated to showcasing the work of the charities and urging people to get involved with supporting three great causes in the borough.

And, thanks to the generosity of Sir Norman Stoller and the Stoller Charitable Trust, agreeing to help with the appeal, the campaign total stands at £6,000 to be split between the three good causes.

In a joint statement, Alex Herod (Mahdlo), Clare Taylor (Action Oldham Fund), and Lisa Pearson (Dr Kershaw's Hospice), said: "We would like to thank everyone who got involved with supporting 123 Give and donating their time and money.

"It has been great to work with other vital charities in Oldham and be able to speak to members of the community that we would not normally have the chance to engage with.

"Together we support Oldham residents at every stage of their lives and being able to support each other through fundraising and joint working is exactly what local giving is about.

"We would also like to thank Sir Norman and the Stoller Charitable Trust for supporting 123 Give."

The week launched in November to coincide with #GivingTuesday, an international day of charity action following the shopping excesses of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and featured sponsored bag packs, market stalls and bucket collections in aid of the charities.

Inspiring

Throughout the week the Oldham Chronicle also featured inspiring stories of how the money raised will be used by each of the three organisations, including stories from volunteers, staff and those affected by the support offered by each charity.

The charities are also already beginning to plan and prepare for next year's campaign, which will launch as part of 2017 #GivingTuesday on November 28.
