Emily loses locks for a good cause

EMILY Mahoney is certainly fulfilling her promise to do her brownie best.

Emily (10), from Trinity Brownies, in Royton, went a cut above when it came to thinking of others and had her hair chopped for the Little Princess Trust, which provides wigs for youngsters undergoing cancer treatment.

And when it comes to personal achievement she's definitely on the write tracks.

Emily's poem, "The Night at The Haunted Mansion", was selected for the Young Writer's Anthology from among a host of entries and she's now eagerly awaiting its publication date on June 30.

Her mum Clare said: "Emily has been extremely selfless in donating her hair.

"She wanted to make sure that children suffering from illness had the opportunity to have hair that looked natural while they recovered."

"In her writing she is very creative and her poem was fantastic. I am extremely proud of my beautiful little girl and with me being a guiding leader she truly is a great example to other young girls."

Mike Mahoney, Emily's dad, said: "Emily has been an inspiration to us all, I couldn't be more proud."
