ROYTON artist Robert Lees will be displaying his landscape paintings at Royton Library throughout this month.


The former engineer started painting after he retired and will be showcasing some of his favourite pieces.


ROYTON Townswomen’s Guild will be holding its annual committee nominations and charity presentation night on Tuesday, February 11, at Royton Town Hall (7.30pm). Entrance is £1 for members, £2 for visitors, with refreshments included.


THE devastation of three train crashes and their affects on Royton will be recounted at Royton Local History Society on Monday, February 10. The talk, by Doug Ashmore, will cover a trio of train tragedies which took place between 1897 and 1961. It will take place at Downey House, Royton, from 7.30pm. Members go free, visitors £1.50, including free refreshments.


EIGHT to 16 year olds can have fun at a half-term sports camp at Oldham Academy North from Monday, February 17, until Thursday, February 20. Taking place from 10am to 3pm each day, the activities cost £3 or £10 for the whole week.



THE Bury-Oldham branch of the RSPCA will be holding a mobile vet clinic in Tandle Hill Park on Wednesday from 8.30am until 1.30pm. Staff will be able to help with health checks, vaccinations and worm/flea treatments on the day.


DETAILED displays showing the designs for a new state-of-the-art leisure centre in Royton will be on show throughout February in the existing Sports Centre, Crompton Pool and Royton Library.


ROYTON Guinness Northern Counties Work Club is on every Thursday, between 10am and noon at the office on Seatoller Court.


LEARN some new basketball skills at Royton and Crompton School, Blackshaw Lane, every Wednesday from 5.30 to 8pm. Costs £1 and is designed for young people aged eight to 16.
