Sports camp

KIDS aged eight to 16 can have fun at a half-term sports camp at Oldham Academy North from Monday, February 17, until Thursday, February 20.

Taking place from 10am to 3pm each day, the activities cost £3 or £10 for the whole week.

LOCAL Royton artist Robert Lees will be displaying his landscape paintings at Royton Library throughout February.

The former engineer started painting after he retired and will be showcasing some of his favourite pieces .

ROYTON Townswomen’s Guild will be holding its annual committee nominations and charity presentation night tomorrow, at Royton Town Hall. Starting at 7.30pm, entrance is £1 for members, £2 for visitors with refreshments included.

THE devastation of three train crashes and their affects on Royton will be recounted at Royton Local History Society tonight. The talk, by Doug Ashmore, at Downey House, Royton, from 7.30pm, will cover the tragedies which took place between 1897 and 1961. Members go free, visitors £1.50.

A HOMEWATCH meeting with police officers will take place on Thursday, February 20, from 7 to 8pm at Oddfellows Social Club, Union Street, Royton.

PLANNING permission has been granted for the demolition of a garage and single-storey side extension at 4 Kerwood Drive, Royton.


LITTLE kids will love Twinkle Twinkle Baby and Toddler Tune Time at Heyside United Reformed Church, Hebron Street, every Thursday from 10.15 until 11.15am during school term. CITIZENS advice sessions take place every Wednesday from 9.30am until 12.30pmn at Royton Library.
The free sessions offer independent help and advice with problems including legal and financial issues.
