INTENSIVE learn-to-swim classes will take place at Royton Sports Centre, Park Street, from Monday, February 17, until Friday, February 21, at 9am and 10am.

The week-long course helps swimmers to gain confidence and improve swimming ability. The course costs £23.75 with an Oldham Active card, or £15 for Oldham Active concessions. For more information call 0161-207 7000.


A FAIRTRADE stall of grocery products will be at Trinity Methodist Church, Royton, on Thursday, February 27, from 9am-noon.


TEENAGERS looking to get fit over half-term should visit the teen gym at Royton Sports Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3.30-4.30pm.


PLANNING permission has been granted for the demolition of existing buildings and structures, including the removal of underground tanks, pumps and a canopy at Monarch Service Station, Broadway, Royton. Construction of new sales building, four-pump forecourt, canopy, ATM installation, wash bays, customer parking and new underground tanks were also granted as part of the application.


FLOATING housing support is available at Royton Library every Tuesday from 2 until 4pm. The drop-in event offers housing advice and support in a neutral place, aiming to overcome any issues residents may be facing.


CHILDREN aged eight to 16 can have fun at a half term sports camp at Oldham Academy North from Monday, February 17, until Thursday, February 20. Taking place from 10am to 3pm each day, the activities cost £3 or £10 for the whole week.


A HOMEWATCH meeting will take place on Thursday, February 20, from 7 until 8pm at Oddfellows Social Club, Union Street, Royton. A police surgery will also be held at Royton Youth Centre on Monday, February 24, from 7 until 8pm.
