OLDHAM residents are being invited to see latest plans for a three-year wastewater treatment overhaul in Chadderton and Royton.
The £114 million plan is aimed at safeguarding sewerage services for generations.
United Utilities wants to decommissioning part of the sewage works in Royton and upgrade the treatment works in Chadderton. A new sewer pipeline will link the two sites. Plans will be available to view at Kingfisher School, Foxdenton Lane. on Tuesday from 4.30 to 7.30pm and at St Paul’s Parish Centre, Church Street, Royton, on Thursday from 3.30 to 6.30pm.
United Utilities intends to submit the planning applications later this spring. Work will start in the winter of 2014/15 and completion is expected by autumn, 2017.
The works will mean waste water arriving at the newplant will be treated to a far higher standard than at present.
