Whit Walks time

CHURCHES in Royton will be holding their annual Whit Walks on Sunday.
Trinity Methodist Church, St Paul’s Parish Church and Royton’s Moravian Church will tourthe town centre, leaving from their churches at around 10.30am before meeting on Middleton Road.
Friezland Brass Band will be accompanying the churches and will play hymns afterwards.
CAFOD Action Teams are holding an afternoon aea at Ss Aidan and Oswalds RC Church on Saturday from 2pm. Joseph Howson will give a talk in the community room about his work with CAFOD — the Catholic aid agency — over many years.
ROYTON Local History Society will host its final talk of the season on Monday, June 9 at Downey House, Royton. Peter Watson will be dropping by a 7.30pm to discuss “Dimensions of Time” looking at the past, present and future. It will be the last meeting until September. Members free, visitors £1.50 including refreshment.
A OPEN evening to find out more about Royton’s Townswomen’s Guild will be held on Tuesday, June 10, at Royton Town Hall. And the event, from 7.30pm, features a body and skin care demonstration.
A PLANNING application has been received to build single-storey extensions and pitched roof at 14 Tandle Hill Road, Royton.
POLICE are investigating after offenders smashed a window of a home on Shaw Road, Royton and stole a handbag and keys at 11.30am on May 26. The keys were then used to access a business where the offenders made off with cash.
A PLANNING application to build a side extension at 30 Oozewood Road, Royton, has been submitted.
