SIXTH-FORMER Daisy Murphy has been installed as Oldham’s new youth mayor at a prestigious ceremony.

During her year in office Daisy (17) will represent the borough’s young people and carry out civic duties alongside Oldham Mayor, Councillor Fida Hussain.

Daisy, from Royton, has been a member of Oldham Youth Council for four years and was a member of the Youth Parliment for Oldham in 2012-13.

The Crompton House pupil said: “I feel honoured to become youth mayor of Oldham; it’s an amazing privilege. Not many young people get such a fantastic opportunity to represent others at this level.

“I’m looking forward to my year as youth mayor. I know I will have many fantastic experiences to meet communities and individuals that do amazing things within the town.

Daisy, Oldham’s sixth youth mayor, takes over from Emma O’Donnell (20), who says she has “thoroughly enjoyed” her year in office

“It’s been an epic experience and I am bowled over by the number of passionate, hard-working and dedicated people who live in our communities,” she said
