Natasha’s Euro glory brings local cheer
Date published: 01 August 2014
A ROYTON woman, who won the European Cheerleading Championships with her squad earlier this month, is urging Oldhamers to take part in the sport.
Natasha Barker (26) and her Manchester-based cheerleading troupe Fever Elite saw off competition from Europe’s finest to walk away with the crown.
Taking place at the Manchester Velodrome, the weekend saw over 1,600 participants compete in 203 routines across all disciplines of cheerleading.
Mrs Barker said: “I believe in what I do and it is wonderful for me and my team mates to have our hard work recognised.”
Fantastic
Mrs Barker, who has been dancing since the age of five and first took up cheerleading on Oldham Roughyeds match days, is encouraging others to have a go at cheerleading.
