Police probe after car hits pedestrians

Date published: 30 July 2014

A WOMAN in her 60s suffered serious leg injuries yesterday when a car reversed into her at speed.

She was airlifted to Manchester Royal Infirmary following the incident on Park Street, Royton, behind Rochdale Road, at around noon.

Her husband — who was also hit —was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital via ambulance with less serious injuries.

The woman driver was in a Fiat Panda which then mounted the pavement and crashed into a house.

The injured woman suffered several broken bones to a leg but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Her husband suffered a suspected broken collar bone as well as bumps and bruises.

Police closed Park Street after the incident and reopened it at 2.25pm.

A police investigation is under way.
