DR Kershaw’s Hospice will be hosting an autumn bring-and-buy sale on Saturday, September 6, from 10am to 1pm.


There will be a variety of homebake, craft and toys available as well as refreshments. The hospice is also asking for donations of any unused gifts which can be used for future tombolas.



FAMILIES can take part in the Xplorer navigation challenge at Tandle Hill Visitor Centre on Saturday, September 6. The free event, running from 10am to noon, gives children a chance to navigate the park and learn fun facts.



ROYTON Townswomen’s Guild will hear from Richard Wimpenny as he gives a talk “The Causes of WW1” at Royton Town Hall from 7.30pm on Tuesday, September 9. Admission is £1 for members, £2 for non-members, including refreshments. For more information contact Carole Miller on 0161-633 6126.



OLDHAM Community Adult Pop Choir will host taster sessions on Monday, September 8 and 15 for anyone looking to join. The choir meets from 7-9pm every Monday during term time at St Mark’s Church Hall, Heyside. There are no auditions or need to read music. A HOME Watch meeting will take place at the Oddfellows Social Club, Union Street, Royton, on Thursday, September 18, from 7 to 8pm.



A PLANNING application to build a single-storey rear extension at 18 Cotswold Drive, Royton, has been approved.



St Anne’s Church will be hosting its annual sports day on Sunday, September 14, from 10am. There will be events for all ages and anyone who would like to take part or help out should sign up in the church.



ROYTON Local History Society will hear from David Cooper in a talk about the 1914 Royton Cricket Club team who won their first Central Lancashire League title on Monday, September 8. The event will take place at Downey House, Church Street, from 7.30pm. Members entrance is free, visitors £1.50, including refreshments.
