BEST friends: Ian Hurst died tragically in July but his wife Therese has continued her fundraising efforts in his memory

A DEVASTATED widow is determined to stick to her plans for an annual cricket charity fun day - only two months after her husband suffered a fatal heart attack.

Therese Hurst has continued to help the event at Royton Cricket Club on Saturday - despite grieving for her husband Ian and suffering a heart attack herself.

Ian (56) collapsed with a fatal heart attack without warning while walking the family dogs.

After being told of her husband’s sudden death, Therese was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital after suffering her own heart attack, from which she is now recovering.

The deetermined widow has refused to call off the Royton Ladies fundraising event and is continuing her plans to raise money for several causes, including the North West Air Ambulance, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and Link 4 Pink.

Therese, who founded the fund-raising team behind the event, has been organising the charity cricket day for the past three years.

Therese, a nurse, said: “We are carrying on because it’s what Ian would have wanted.”

Several businesses have signed up in support of the event.
