SWAPPING guitars for cricket bats... teams dressed up as their favourite rock idols for the challenge
ROCKSTARS Axl Rose, Slash and members of Kiss swapped their guitars for cricket bats at a charity fancy dress tournament in Royton.
Or rather, fans of theirs dressed up as their idols while others donned capes, kilts and facepaint for the fun event at Royton Cricket Club, which helped to raise more than £3,500 for club charities.
The event, organised by Therese Hurst in memory of her husband Ian, who died in July, raised money for causes including the North-West Air Ambulance, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and Link 4 Pink.
The annual event, which was attended by around 200 people, was originally set up in memory of friends of the club Karen Green, who died from breast cancer in 2010 and Jackie Proctor, who died from cancer the following year.
