Memories of the past buried for the future

Date published: 03 October 2014

Oldham’s history has been buried for all to see... a century from now.

A time capsule, including stories from the Chron, was placed in the giant Tandle Hill County Park Rotary Wheel by Peter King, national president of Rotary International, during his visit to see the wheel.

The capsule contains information about the wheel, which was created in 2005 as part of the Rotary National Centenary project.

Accompanied by the Mayor, Councillor Fida Hussain and Mayoress Tanvir Hussain, Mr King saw improvement work being done by the commemoration charity, Life for a Life, and met students from Royton Hall Primary School.

The wheel is on a flight path into Manchester Airport and seen by millions of travellers every year.
