REDEVELOPMENT plans for Royton town centre have been given a boost following the precinct’s purchase by new owners.

Tristan Capital Partners, in a joint venture with Addington Capital, have acquired the site. The previous owner, Brookwide Ltd, went into administration earlier this year.

The capital partners bought a £150million regional property portfolio, of which Royton Precinct was one item.

The new owners will continue to work with Oldham Council, and its partners Dransfield Properties, on the regeneration of the district.

Changes could include a new major food store, doctors’ surgery, refurbishment of the town hall and library as well as enhancement of the weekly market.

Also on the regeneration agenda is improved car parking, redevelopment of the former Byron Street School and improvement works to the precinct and public realm.
