Burglar alert

RESIDENTS are being warned to be extra vigilant after a burglar forced his way through the rear dividing doors of a property on Middleton Road, Royton, and made off with a Samsung Galaxy mobile phone sometime between 5.50pm on Saturday, October 11 and 2am on Sunday, October 12.


PLACES are available for new beavers, cubs and scouts at SS Aidan and Oswalds groups, open to girls and boys aged six to 14. For more information contact scouting-2ndRoyton@sky.com and a leader will contact you.


NEW members are being invited to join the SS Aidan and Oswald Parent, Baby and Toddler Group. The group meets in the church community room on Wednesdays from 8.45 to 11am during term time and welcomes children up to the age of three. Sessions cost £1.50.


THE first Heyside Classic Car and Bike Show, featuring around 30 vehicles, will take place at Bullcote Park, Royton, on Saturday. Entrance is free and the show will be open from noon to 4pm.


ANYONE looking to donate food to the Oldham Foodbank can now do so at Royton Library as a new collection point has been set up.


ROYTON Youth Centre will host a free Halloween party for children in school years three to seven on Friday, October 31. The party, running from 4.15 to 5.45pm will include games, a disco and a fancy-dress competition. Current members of the youth centre do not need to book a place. Non-members can book via the Royton and Shaw Sports Facebook page.


OVER-60s can join the Royton Happy Circle who meet every Friday between 1 and 3pm at Royton Band and Social Club, Sandy Lane, for social activities including bingo, raffles and day trips. For more information contact Irene on 0161-620 3189 or Edith on 0161-624 0624.


THE Glee Club singers from Mahdlo and Delph Youth Band will be entertaining crowds at Trinity Methodist Church, Royton, on Saturday, November 1, during a fund-raising concert for Children in Need. The concert will start at 1.30pm with tickets costing £5 or £2.50 for under 13s. Tickets can be obtained during the church coffee morning on Thursdays, from 9am until noon, or by calling 0161-624 6249.
