Mum in appeal over daughter’s accident

Date published: 31 December 2014

THE mother of a 15-year-old girl who was left with serious leg injuries after being hit by a van in Royton on Christmas Eve last year is making a fresh appeal for information about the incident.

Chloe Wheatcroft was walking from her house in Fir Lane towards a bus stop in Rochdale Road at around 11.50am to catch a bus for some last minute Christmas shopping. While crossing Rochdale Road opposite the Bethesda Church, she was struck by a blue Renault Master van and left with severe fractures to her leg, which needed two operations and still needs specialist rehabilitation.

No criminal proceedings were brought.

Chloe’s mother, Dorothy, said: “Receiving a phone call that your daughter has been involved in a serious accident was just horrifying. Luckily Chloe survived, but she faces a long recovery and rehabilitation battle. She is in constant discomfort. To get the best support we need help from people who may have seen the incident.”

The family has instructed lawyers to help and together they are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the accident to come forward.

Anyone who is able to provide information about the accident is asked to contact Richard Biggs at Irwin Mitchell Solicitors on 0161-838 3092 or email Richard.biggs@irwinmitchell.com.
