Blood levels drop

AN urgent appeal has been made for blood donors this month after stock levels fell drastiaclly over Christmas.
All blood types are needed, in particular O groups, to maintain life-saving supplies. Hospitals in England and North Wales need over 6,000 donations a day to treat patients.
Nadine Eaton, head of national campaigns, said: “Blood stocks have fallen over the festive period and it’s vital that we increase our stocks now, so we can continue to meet the needs of patients.
There will be sessions at Holy Family Church, Failsworth today (5.15pm- 7.30pm and at Royton’s Trinity Methodist Church on January 16 (1.15pm-3.30pm and 5.15pm-7.30pm).
Appointments can also be made to donate at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on January 22 (1.10pm-3.55pm and 5.15pm-7.30pm).
