STUNNING landscape paintings by a local artist are currently on display at Royton Library.

Robert Lees, a retired mechanical design engineer from Royton, is exhibiting some of his favourite paintings throughout February at the Rochdale Road library.


TRINITY Methodist Church, on Radcliffe Street, Royton, are celebrating Fairtrade fortnight by selling Fairtrade goods and groceries during their coffee morning on Thursday, February 26, from 9am to 12noon.


A MULTI-SPORTS camp will take place at Oldham Academy North from today (16) to 20.

Designed for ages eight to 16, the camp gives young people the chance to play sports, including netball, dodgeball, football and cricket.

Each day costs £4 and the camp runs from 10am to 3pm.


A BURGLARY occurred on Highfield Drive, Royton,between 12.40am and 9am on February 8. The offender/s gained entry to the house by forcing open a ground floor window and made off with an iPad, cash from a wallet and keys for a vehicle - although the vehicle was not stolen.


POLICE have issued advice to vehicle owners after three cars had there catalytic converts stolen in Royton and Higher Crompton recently.

Police are advising vehicle owners to park in a garage or a location which restricts access to the underneath of the vehicle and consider the installation of CCTV or a “cat clamp”, a device which surrounds the converter with a cage stainless steel - locking the converter to the vehicle chassis.


ENTERPRISING students from Royton and Crompton School raised a staggering £4800 for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice and Helping Hands Bolivia during their annual mini-enterprise event.
