A TALK entitled “A Search for a Victorian Fidler Across the Seas”, by John Fidler, will take place at Royton Local History Society, Downey House, Church Street, today.


Entrance, from 7.30pm, is free for members or £1.50 for visitors, including refreshments.



ROYTON Townswomen Guild will host Kershaw’s Crooners for a musical evening tomorrow. The event will take place at Royton Town Hall from 7.30pm. Entrance costs £2 for members, £3 for visitors, including refreshments. For more information contact Carole Miller on 0161-633 6126.



PLANS for the building of a new Lidl store on land off Middleton Road, Royton, can be viewed on the Oldham Council website. The plans, which will be debated on Wednesday, include the demolition of existing structures on the site, the building of the retail store, a car park and other landscaping works.



THE Women’s World Day of Prayer event, held on March 6, at Trinity Methodist Church, Royton, raised £321 for charities supported by the international event.
