ROYTON will be getting a new Lidl supermarket in the district centre.
Oldham Council planning committee granted permission for the supermarket company to build a new 22,000sq ft store at land bounded by High Street, Middleton Road and Croft Head.
The site, which previously housed Royton Assembly Hall and is currently a car park, will also contain 100 parking spaces, highway works and landscaping. The former Albion Club, which also sits on the land, will be demolished to make way for the development of the single-storey store.
The application was unanimously approved by councillors following discussions about parking provisions and delivery schedules to the store.
