RADCLIFFE Street with its junction at Cardigan Street will be closed for five weeks starting from Monday, May 18 to allow connection of the new Royton Leisure Centre to the existing drainage infrastructure. Builders Willmott Dixon apologise for any inconvenience caused.


ROYTON Local History Society will hear a talk on “The Underground Canals of Worsley” by Glen Atkinson tonight. The talk takes place at Downey House, Church Street, Royton at 7.30 pm. Members entrance is free, visitors £1.50 including refreshments.


STOP by Royton Townswomen’s Guild tomorrow for a talk by Mark Llewellin entitled “All to Sea”. The event takes place at Royton Town Hall from 7.30pm. Entrance is £2 members, £3 visitors including refreshments. Contact Carole Miller on 0161-633 6126 for more information.


DR Kershaw’s Hospice will host its annual thanksgiving and remembrance service on Sunday. Join Rev Miles Howarth for the service at St Anne’s Church, Royton, from -5pm.



CELEBRATE with Royton Moravian Church, on Spring Garden Street, as it marks 150 years of worship this weekend. An open day will take place on Saturday from 10am to 4pm, with a chance to tour the church, have a chat and enjoy refreshments. It will be followed by a special service at the church on Sunday.



BEAUTIFUL landscapes and stunning scenes by local artist Barbara Travis are being showcased at Royton Library.



PLANNING permission has been approved for a change of use from function room to one self-contained first floor flat at Royton Cricket and Bowling Club, The Paddock, Bransdale Avenue.
