POLICE are investigating after a petrol bomb was thrown at a house in High Barn Road, Royton in the early hours of yesterday.
The object landed on the property’s single-storey extension roof and caused extensive damage, but no-one was injured.
Detective Sergeant Darren Grafton said: “Fortunately, a child’s bedroom directly underneath the seat of the fire was empty. Thankfully, no-one was hurt, but this could have been fatal.
“I would urge anyone who saw anybody acting suspiciously in the area at the time to contact police.”
