ARMED robbery . . . at Ladbrokes in Chadderton
AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after an armed robbery at a Chadderton betting shop.
A man in his early 20s pulled out a sawn-off shotgun during the raid at Ladbrokes in Chadderton Precinct.
The man, described as being Asian or of black ethnicity, was wearing a black balaclava during the raid on Saturday night.
He is said to be a stocky build and was wearing a black jacket at the time of the robbery at 8.20pm.
Greater Manchester Police said via social media: "If you saw anything suspicious around this time please contact us on 0161-856 8825 and the information will be passed onto the detectives who are investigating."
One resident also commented: "Armed robberies are now escalating.
"They need catching before someone gets seriously hurt or even killed."
A staff member at nearby Age UK said: "We had a break-in a couple of weeks ago.
"They didn't take anything but it is worrying to know this is happening."
When asked about the incident Ladbrokes said they would not provide a comment other than to confirm that they are assisting police with their inquiries.
