THE Rochdale Canal lift bridge at the bottom of Foxdenton Lane
DRIVERS were met with a surprise on Saturday as they ventured down Foxdenton Lane, Chadderton and found it closed.
The reason being that the hydraulic canal bridge got stuck in the up position.
The road was closed and Greater Manchester Police urged people coming from Broadway, using the road to cut through to Middleton, not to bother while an engineer came out to fix the problem.
It is understood that the bridge was fixed at some point on Sunday, ready for the Monday morning traffic.
