Poison gel stolen in Town Hall raid

Reporter: Lewis Jones
Date online: 16 January 2012

A cockroach-killing gel potentially toxic to human has been stolen in a break-in at Chadderton Town Hall.

Thieves smashed their way into the Environmental Health Agency offices through a window and stole a locked metal container holding 13 dispensers of Du Pont Advion Cockroach Gel, each with 30g of gel inside.

The gel is used to kill the bugs and could be toxic to humans if ingested. It can also cause major skin irritations.

Police are appealing for information about the burglary, which occurred between 9am on Monday, January 9, and 7.50am the following day.

PC Craig Bowring said: “What reason they took it I do not know. I want people — and the thieves themselves — to be very careful when handling this gel. If anyone should find it, don’t attempt to open the dispensers. Return them to your nearest police station.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4666 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

Is it me or is this typical of this country and partly the reason why this country is in the mess it is!?

Concern for the thieves - I'm sorry but if they injure themselves or get skin problems then surely that is a form of justice - they shouldn't have taken it in the first place!!

Funny old world is'nt it when Peter Brown the mole man can't use poison to control moles but the council can use what ever force is needed to get rid of cockroaches, seems to me that the poison is in the right place lets hope some of these theiving roaches get their just deserts.
