Star man makes astronomy cool
Date published: 23 January 2012
PROFESSOR Brian Cox has helped the cosmos to become cool again.
Amateur astronomy is now going through its own big bang in popularity thanks to the Chadderton-born former musician who presented the BBC 1 show “Stargazing Live”.
He has been a massive hit with viewers and shopping website Amazon recently reported a 500 per cent increase in the purchase of telescopes. The show screened over three nights last week attracted almost three million viewers each episode.

It is worth noting, that despite the ocean’s of the world covering more than 70 percent of the planet’s surface, 95 percent of this realm remains unexplored, unseen by human eyes. Whilst Professor Cox makes a cogent argument for sustained investment in space exploration, shouldn’t we be directing a percentage of these 'valuable' resources towards regions undiscovered, slightly nearer to home?
Don't let those aliens come and take our jerbs!!!
Only in Oldham would a comment like the above be said.
