Book day fun

RADCLYFFE School is holding a series of events tomorrow to celebrate World Book Day.

Pupils will take part in creative writing sessions with author-in-residence Mark Wright, an interactive broadcast with CBBC presenters Dick and Dom and a webcast with author Robert Muchamore.


FIND out more about the work of Oldham Council’s community safety team at the next Chadderton Home Watch meeting. It takes place at Chadderton Wellbeing Centre, Burnley Street, at 7,30pm, on Tuesday, March 11. All welcome.


PHILOMENA Langford, from Patchwork Parade, Russell Street, is organising Oldham’s second annual patchwork, quilting and craft fair. PUPILS from North Chadderton School were the runners up in two categories — best company and best product — at a recent Young Enterprise Trade Fair at the Trafford Centre. Youngsters from around 30 schools had to develop and sell products. They included North Chadderton’s range of dessert- scented candles.



ARCHDEACON Cherry Vann will lead a special service on Mothering Sunday, March 30, to celebrate a new chapter in the history of St George’s Church, Broadway. It has undergone a refurbishment so it can become the parish church for Emmanuel Parish.



SOUTH Chadderton community garden group is holding a free seed swap at Whitegate End Primary School, Butterworth Lane, from 6 to 8pm on Monday, March 24. It is also a chance to meet fellow gardeners and visit the community garden and poly tunnel.
