FROM volleyball to skipathons and penalty shoot outs to photoshoots — Oldhamers came out in force to do their bit for Sport Relief.

At Hathershaw School, staff rowed 10k each while students completed a one mile-run with Latics players James Wilson and David Worrall sending them on their way.

Pupils also paid £1 to step inside a special photobooth and have their picture taken wearing a silly wig.

At Knowsley School in Springhead, all pupils took part in a mass skipathon and a specially constructed one mile run.

Youngsters at Broadfield School travelled to Alexandra Park to complete a one-mile run in the sunshine.

Oldham Sixth-Form College students donned all red to challenge their teachers to a spot of volleyball.

Manchester Giants basketball players descended on Saddleworth School to shoot hoops with the students while Paul Brammer spent the whole day dressed as a bright green Morph.

Kwok Wong, who owns Royton chippy Ree Ming, bought a customised 45ft Chinese dragon and took seven of his most valued customers to complete the Manchester Sport Relief mile in style. His efforts raised £400 for Sport Relief.

HARDY runners braved wind, rain and hail to complete a charity challenge in Chadderton.
Dozens entered the Sport Relief run at the Radclyffe Athletics Centre, choosing to run either one, three or six miles to raise money.

First place went to 12-year-old Matthew Wilson from St Thomas’s scout group in Moorside.

Lisa Davison and her nine-year-old son Lee also finished in the top spots. Lisa said: “We have been looking forward to this for ages and have been training for it for a while.

“We’ve had a really good day and the whole event was really good fun.”

Yesterday’s event followed a mass aerobathon at Oldham Sports Centre on Friday which raised close to £200 for Sport Relief.
